Chapter 3 of the Agrifood Youth Employment and Engagement Study (AgYees) focuses on the potential of agrifood systems in Sub-Saharan Africa to create employment opportunities for unemployed, underemployed, and disadvantaged youth. The chapter employs a systematic analysis of food expenditure items, categorising them based on two primary criteria: (1) the commodities contained in the food items, and (2) their level of processing, perishability, and source (whether purchased or consumed at home).
