In many low- and middle-income countries, low-income consumers’ diets are often lacking in food diversity and quality. Private companies can help improve this if they can provide safe, nutritious foods that meets customers’ needs at an affordable price—but they must also do so in ways that are profitable and sustainable for the company.
The GAIN Business Model Research (BMR) Project, funded by the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs, aims to identify promising business models that can do just this. This set of guidance documents highlights promising inclusive business models that can provide safe, nutritious foods at an affordable price.
